Hi all,
I would welcome any comments regarding the suitability of the following Foundation Level equipment, as I'll be taking my exam soon. Also, if there's anything else I may reasonably require to get running quickly.
My current equipment :
Emergency Handtalkies
2x Baofeng UV-5RTP - 1/4/8w VHF/UHF handhelds, with:
2x Nagoya NA771 whips for distance.
2x Diamond SRH805S helical stubbies for close work.
2x Extended battery packs
1x SMA to SO239 adapter to couple the Baofengs to VSWR/PWR meter or rooftop antenna.
2x 15w Solar Chargers for extended/emergency fieldwork
2x Waterproof pelican cases to hold each radio+accessories
Principal Radio
1x Yaesu FT857D (HF/VHF/UHF) as a first base station and QRP fieldwork radio
1x Diamond GSV-3000 Linear PSU 30A continuous rating at 100% duty cycle, 1 to 15 Volt adjust (3 mVpp ripple)
1x MFJ-904 ATU
1x CT62 'CAT' PC Interface Cable
Fieldwork equipment for Principal Radio
Various: Lightweight portable HF Antennas (on SotaBeams wire winders)
2x Yuasa 7Amp/Hr Sealed Lead Acid Batteries
1x 45w Solar Panel and MPPT Charge Controller
1x Voltmeter/Ammeter
1x ALC unit for reducing to QRP power
A Foam-filled Aluminium Flight Case for housing the field kit
Misc
Logbook
Standalone Meters: Twin-Needle VSWR/PWR (to 500Mhz), V/Ah meter and ALC
1x Roll 20 meters LMR400
1x Roll 10 meters Balanced Feeder
Balun and UnUn (Low Loss G-Whip core)
Assorted: N type, PL259/SO239 and BNC plugs, sockets and adapters
I'm aware I'll still need dual-band 2m/70cm antennas. One for fieldwork, one for rooftop.
In future I'll probably be looking at obtaining 2m and 70cm yagis for the field
I'd appreciate any comments/criticisms on the equipment choices and suggestions for any 'must have' equipment I may have missed.
Ground spikes?
Poles? Etc.
Regards,
-Gary
